  • Notes
    • Patrick Hanaway appears in Griffiths' Land Valuation of 1864-spelt "Hanaway" as the tenant of plot 2 in Slieve Gullion townland.
In 1872 Rose Hanaway replaces Patrick Hanaway as the tenant of the "Slieve Gullion" townland house (source: Griffiths Land Valuation Revisions [LV] update). Rose (née Mullen) is the wife of Peter Hannaway, parents of Hughie & John Hannaway. Hugh then replaces Rose in 1895 in Griffiths (LV) Revision; John (now living in Levalamore) replaces Hugh in the 1916 LV Revision update.
There is a Death Certificate for Rose Hannaway (22/5/1889), widow age 71; son John Hannaway was present.
Relationship of Patrick to Rose & Peter (parents of John & Hugh Hannaway) is yet to be established. No other record of a Patrick Hanaway in Slieve Gullion has been found nor a record of death. Local Historian Eugene McCann suggests it could be a contemporary record error in Griffiths Land Valuation entering "Patrick" rather than "Peter".
Official entries for Hugh & John (at the same household plot) subsequently appear as Hanaway or Hannaway (land, births, marriages etc).
