    • Mary Byrne's (Gavan) address at Clarence St., is recorded on the Burial & Headstone records of Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC). "TABLET MILITARY INSCRIPTIONS" Hill 10 cemetery,Suvla Bay. The Commissiion records for Suvla Bay were produced after the Armistice - Nov 1918. There were two tenants at No 36 in 1914-15: John Redmond and Martin Doyle.
      However the Electoral Rolls in 1914 and in 1915 still show Patrick Byrne as the tenant at 12 Church street - as in the 1911 census.

This "Hse & Blg Return" page shows that two families (11 persons in total) live at No11 which has up to 4 rooms but only one window at the front. Contemporary records refer to them as cottages. Jane Place has since been demolished during redevelopments.

    • Mary Gavan was living at 11 Upper Oriel St., Dublin when she first married in 1890. Her father Bryan had died there in 1887 aged 56. Mary's first husband Joseph Moran died in 1904 aged 52, leaving Mary a widow with 4 children. In 1907 Mary Moran married Patrick Byrne who died of his wounds at Gallipoli in 1915.
      Mary's army Widow's Pension card records her birth as May 1856. The 1901 census records Mary was born in Co Meath but about 1866, not 1856.
