Picture Note: Mary Hanlon (Murphy) & family - 1911 census in the townland of Doctor's Quarter. Husband Patrick Murphy had died in 1906. We know that Mary had at least 13 children (including twins), which should have been entered in columns 11 & 12 and checked by the enumerator (constable Lynch). Born about 1849 her age was about 62 - not 74. However in 1908 the old age pension had been introduced for those aged 70. James (aged 38) was known as "Jemmy Fadgy". Nephew Michael Morgan has yet to be identified. © AskAboutIreland and the Cultural Heritage Project; http://www.askaboutireland.ie
