  • Notes
    • James McParland is identified as John's father in John's 1886 marriage to Catherine/Kate Boyle. (During the 1880s there are no other Ballard tenants named James McParland).
James McParland is also identified in the 1893 marriage record of his son Owen McParland, Ballard. It states James is "living".
James died in Feb 1910 aged 70. His wife had died, as his marital status is "widower" on the death registration entry. Present at his death & informant to the Registrar was grandson James O'Hagan of Carrickbrackan (near Camlough). James O'Hagan was a cousin of Susan McParland who married Mick McGinnis in Levelamore.
Land records (Griffiths Revisions) show that tenancy of their land (No28 Ballard townland) changes from James to his son Patrick McParland in 1910. James's wife Catherine (Kate Boyle) takes over tenency in 1912.
