Extracts from Griffiths Land Valuations Revisions. Upper page: Rose Hannaway takes over tenancy from Patrick Hanaway (1872/73). In 1895 Hugh Hannaway takes over tenancy from his mother Rose Hanaway. Formerly Rose Mullen and wife of Peter Hannaway, Rose had died in 1894. (The year of changes is in the right-hand column: eg "95" in the same ink colour as the name change).

(Enlarge to see details) Griffiths Land Valuation Revision entries for tenancy Ref No2 Slieve Gullion townland. For the 1866-1882 period (upper image): Rose Hanaway/Hannaway takes over the tenancy from "Patrick Hanaway" in 1872/73. This "Patrick Hanaway" has not been traced and may be Peter but recorded as Patrick-they were not literate at the time. We do know that this Rose (Mullen) is the wife of Peter Hannaway in the same household. Thus Peter must have died by 1872. In the 1894-1909 period (lower image) Hugh takes over from his mother Rose Hannaway (née Mullen), the land record entry date is 1895 (see far right column entry "95" - the same colour ink as "Hugh"). Hugh would have taken over following the death of his mother (Rose) in 1894.
