1939 Register_Hannaways_Lev'amore
"The 1939 Register" - a page from the national Register: the Hannaway household in Levelamore, County Armagh. The national survey was carried out on 26 Sep 1939-at the outbreak of WW2. The initial records were completed by each household and these were used to issue national identity cards straight away; in 1948 those householder copies were used as the basis for the records of the new NHS service. The "1939 Register" enumerator collected the householders' copy, from which these record pages seen here were created.
Patrick Hannaway was Baptised in Lislea on 20 Dec 1876 (his birth entered here - 23 Dec 1876) and he does not use the official Registrar's birth of 8 Jan 1877. This entry page also confirms his wife Annie McParland's birth date (in Chicago) and Mary Hannaway's later married name - Doherty. Eileen (Nellie) Hannaway is a "Visitor" in her parent's home since Nellie was born and grew up in the home of her uncle George McParland in Beechill/Glenn (on the other side of Newry). George is a brother of Nellie's mother, Annie MParland.
The 4 blacked-out entries are individuals born less than 100 years ago and where Public Record Office N Ireland (PRONI) have no death record. (maybe Bernadette, Maggie-Rose, Georgie and one other).
